A full house clearance is rarely just about moving furniture out of a property. Behind every clearance we take on, there’s usually a bigger story — a family managing an executry, someone downsizing after decades in the same home, or a loved one moving into care. Each situation comes with its own emotional weight, and its own practical complexity.
This is where a huge part of our work at Dickory Dock happens, and it’s a job we take seriously from the very first phone call to the very last visit.
Typically, we’re handed the keys and asked to manage everything from there. That might involve coordinating with:
- Auction houses, for items of value that deserve a proper sale rather than a skip
- Handymen and tradespeople, for any repairs or clearance-related work the property needs before it’s ready to hand back or go to market
- Gardeners, where outdoor spaces have been left untended and need bringing back under control
- Second-hand and charity organisations, ensuring good-quality items find a new home rather than going to waste
- Family members, when certain belongings need to be identified, set aside, or delivered on to relatives
We see our role as the coordinator sitting in the middle of all of this — making the calls, scheduling the visits, checking the quality of work, and keeping everyone informed, so that no single family member has to carry the burden of managing multiple contractors and decisions on their own.
From the day we’re handed the keys to the day we hand them back, our job is to make sure the process runs smoothly, respectfully, and efficiently — treating every property, and everything inside it, with the care it deserves.
